Preventive and therapeutic effect of anti-sick hats on motion sickness

Objective To observe the preventive and therapeutic effect of anti-sick hats on motion sickness. Methods Forty male patients with motion sickness were divided into experimental group（n=20） wearing anti-sick hats on their heads and control group（n=20）.Patients in the two groups and 2 persons with no motion sickness took a same bus bumping on the road due to different speeds.Experiment was stopped when I°vestibular autonomic reactions occurred in 2 testers.Incidence of Ⅱ°and Ⅲ°vestibular autonomic reactions in the two groups was calculated. Results The incidence of Ⅱ°vestibular autonomic reaction was 40%（8/20） in experimental group while the incidence of Ⅱ°and Ⅲ°vestibular autonomic reactions was 85% in control group（Ⅱ°in 15 and Ⅲ°in 2,χ2=6.83,P＜0.01）. Conclusion Anti-sick hats can prevent and treat motion sickness in certain patients,thus adding a new preventive and therapeutic modality for motion sickness.
