Change of serum lipid in patients with sub-clinical hypothyroidism after treatment with L-thyroxine

Objective To observe the change of serum lipid after treatment with L-thyroxine. Methods Sixty patients with subclinical bypothyoidism were treated with oral 12.5μg and 50μg of L-thyroxine,respectively.Free triiodothyronine（FT3）,thyroidstimulating hormone（TSH）,free teraiodothyronine（FT4）,total cholestesrol（TC）,triglyceride（TG）,low density lipoprotein cholesterol（LDL-C）,high density lipoprotein cholesterol（HDL-C） and clinical symptoms were observed before and after treatment. Results Symptoms were improved in some patients with hypothyroidism and their TC,TG,LDL-C levels were lower after treatment than before treatment（P＜0.05）. Conclusion L-thyroxine can improve the clinical symptoms and decrease the blood lipid level in hypothyroidism patients.
