Reproductive tract infection in 1124 floating rural women in Suzhou

  • Objective To investigate the current state of reproductive tract infection(RTI) in floating rural women in Suzhou. Methods Clinical examination and laboratory test were performed for infectious diseases, including trichomonal vaginitis, monilial vaginitis, bacterial vaginitis, cervicitis, pelvic inflammation, codyloma acuminate (CA), gonorrhoeae, chlamydia trachomatis, syphilis and genifal herpes in 1 124 outpatients. Disease-related factors were investigated and recorded. Results Of the 1 124 patients with RTI, 638(56.66%) had pelvic inflammation, 251(22.33%) had different types of vaginitis, 147(13.08%) had 2 types of infection, 30(2.67%) had more than three types of infection. CA occurred at the age of 21-30 years, accounting for 73.96%. Cervicitis occurred in patients at the age of 21- 40 years, accounting for 82.45%. Conclusion Prevention and treatment knowledge about RTI should be popularized in order to achieve its early discovery, diagnosis, and treatment.
