Correlation of serum lipase with chronic nephrology clinical classification and chronic kidney disease stages

Abstract
Objective To study the change of lipase(LPS) expression in patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD). Methods One hundred patients and 60 healthy controls were enrolled in this study.Correlation of serum LPS levels with CKD was studied in 140 CKD patients.Those who had primary CKD but no tumors,systemic lupus erythematosus,acute or chronic pancreatitis,and did not receive drug treatment,with their age less than 70 years,were included in the study.Serum LPS levels in patients and controls were measured.Glomerular filtration rate of patients was calculated.The patients were divided into nephritic syndrome(NS) group and chronic nephritic syndrome(CNS) group according to their clinical diagnosis,and into CKD1,CKD2-3,and CKD4-5 dialysis groups according to their CKD stages.Statistical analysis was performed using the CHISS software. Results The serum LPS level was 78.55U/L and 194.05U/L in control group and CNS group,respectively,and 163.04U/L,140.72U/L,158.25U/L,314.53U/L and 322.13U/L in CKD1 dialysis group,CKD2-3 dialysis group,and CKD4-5 dialysis group,respectively(P<0.01).Serum LPS level was correlated with GFR and serum creatinine(SCr)(P<0.05,P<0.01).The coefficients were-0.232 and 0.276. Conclusion Serum LPS level is elevated in CKD patients,and is correlated with SCr and GFR.Serum LPS level tends to increase through the progression of CKD.
