Echocardiography derived variables predicting left ventricular remodeling after acute myocardial infarction

  • Objective: This study was to investigate the value of Echocardiographic measurements in predicting Left Ventricular Remodeling (LVRM) after Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI). Methods: 52 patients with first AMI underwent echo examinations at day 5 1±1 9 and 10 6±3 4 months after AMI. Results: During the follow up, left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVD), left ventricular end diastolic volume index(EDVI),systolic volume index (SVI) and Doppler derived mitral deceleration time (DT) increased significantly (P<0. 05) There were 37 LVRM in 52 AMI patients In a stepwise regression model, both SVI,DT emerged as the independent predictor of LVRM A significant inverse correlation was found between SVI and changes in EDVI (ΔEDVI),the same to DT The regression equation was ΔEDVI=49 55-0 95SVI-0 13DT, R2=0 50(P<0. 01). Conclusion: Among the echocardiography variances, SVI and DT provide independent predictors of LVRM for patients with AMI.
