Continent Ileal reservoir (kock pouch) for urinary diversion——review of literature and report of 4 cases

  • From June 1984,Urinary diversion via a continent ileal reservoir has been performed in 4 cases, according to the method modified by Skinner. The method described originally by Kock. The patients are satisfied with this type of urinary deversion. The elimination of external appliances was of great benefit.A most significant gain with the operation was the confidence in stoma, which allowed the patients to abandon previous restrictions in social activities owing to incontinence and stomal problems. To date reoperation was necessary in one patient to revise the continent valve mechanism.
