The effect of laser on intercellular communication of cultured porcine retinal pigment epithelial cells

  • Objective:To observe the affect of laser on the function of intercellular communication in cultured pig ertinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells. Methods:Different power of argon lasers were used to coagulated confluent RPE cells, and then the capacity of intercellular communication of RPE cells rounding the laser burn spots was measured. Results:The were not any effects on the degree of intercellular communication under 0.2 second duration, 200um spot size and 0.1W laser dose. 0.5W Laser showed light inhibitor function. While when the laser dosed increased to 0.9、1.8、and 2.7W apparent restrained aftereffect appeared. Conclusion:Different power of lasers have variable effects on the intercellular communication, and the degree of inhibition is closely related to the energy of the laser.
