Treatment of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome by combined genioglossus advancement or hyoid suspension with uvulopalatopharyngoplasty

Objective:This study evaluated the effectiveness of uvulopalatopharygoplasty（UPPP） with genioglossus advancement and hyoid suspension for the treatment of patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome（OSAS） in light of their degrees and obstructive sites.Methods:Combined UPPP and genioglossus advancement and hyoid suspension were performed in 26 patients after observing the cephalometric radiographs and analyzing the PSG signals.After operation the cephalometric radiographs were obtained in different positions and the PSG signals were observed.Results:The improvements were excellent and the air ways were enlarged by combined UPPP and genioglossus advancement and hyoid suspension in the patients with severe OSAS.（Conclusion:That） different operation methods were chosen for aiming at different degrees and obstructive sites in the patients with OSAS was reasonable and efficacious.
