Investigation and analysis of use of antibiotics in department of orthopedics

Objective To investigate the use of antibiotics in department of antibiotics for their rational use. Methods Medical histories of 489 patients treated in department of orthopedics from June to August 2009 were randomly selected to analyze the use of antibiotics,DDDs,drug combination,methods of medication,etc. Results Antibiotics were used in 462 of the 489 patients.Among these 462 patients,antibiotics were used in prevention of infection and treatment in 334 and 128 patients,respectively.A single,2 and 3 antibiotics were used in 234（50.65%）,165（35.71%）,and 44（9.52%） patients,respectively.Drug sensitivity test was performed in 24 patients（5.19%）. Conclusion The management of antibiotics should be strengthened and standards should made for the clinical use of antibiotics.
