Types of spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection and its conservative treatment

Objective To study the types of spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection（SISMAD） and its conservative treatment.Methods Clinical data about 10 patients with SISMAD admitted to our hospital in June 2007-June 2009 were retrospectively analyzed.SISMAD was typed.Imaging findings and clinical manifestations of the patients were recorded.The patients were followed up.Results Of the 10 patients with alleviation of their abdominal symptoms after conservative treatment,3 did not receive anticoagulant therapy,1 had abdominal vague pain after meal,the others had no acute abdominal pain.SMA did not aggravate.The thrombus in false lumen disappeared at different extent with no formation of new thrombus.However,the distal narrowed arteries were dilated.Conclusion Patients with no intestinal ischemia or peritonitis can receive conservative treatment with a rather good short-term and long-term effect.
