The effects of basic fibroblast growth factor on SOD, MDA and NO in skin flap tissues of rats

Abstract
An animal model of caudally based random skin flap was established in 54 Wistar rats to observe the effects of bFGF on skin flap survial, SOD, MDA and NO in skin flap tissues. The results showed that in bFGF-treated group, flap necrosis was significantly lower, MDA and NO reduced significantly, and SOD elevated at the middle and distal parts as compared with those in the control group. These findings suggest that bFGF treatment may result in an improvement of the ischemic flap survival and an alleviation of the lipid peroxidation.
