Effect of fresh frozen plasma and crytoprecipitate on diabetes induced by streptozocin in rats

  • Objective To explore the effect of fresh frozen plasma(FFP) and crytoprecipitate(CRYO) on diabetes induced by streptozocin(STZ) in rats. Methods Male Wister rats were divvied into blank control group and diabetes model group. A diabetes model was established by intra-peritoneal injection of STZ(80mg/kg).Then,the rats were randomly divided into diabetes model group,FFP group and CRYO group,with their weight and blood sugar level measured once a week. Levels of blood sugar,insulin,lipid,and other biochemistry parameters were measured after 6 weeks. Results The levels of blood sugar,lipid,alanine aminotransferase(ALT), and aspartate transaminase(AST) were significantly higher in diabetes model group than in blank control group. The levels of blood sugar and insulin did not change significantly in FFP and CRYO groups after treatment compared with blank control group. However,the activity of ALT and AST was significantly lower in FFP and CRYO groups than in blank control group(P<0.05). Conclusion FFP and CRYO can improve liver damage induced by STZ.
