Arthroscopic repair of shoulder joint Bankart injury with suture anchors

Objective To evaluated the curative effect of arthroscopic suture anchors on Bankart injury. Methods Twelve male patients（mean age:21 years,averaged 17-32 years）with recurrent anterior dislocation of shoulder and Bankart injury were treated with arthroscopic suture anchors.The patients underwent X-ray and MRI examination before operation.Arthroscopic examination was performed to locate the Bankart injury of shoulder joint,which was then debrided and treated with 2-3 suture anchors under arthroscope.The injury was scored following the University of California at Los Angeles（UCLA）scoring criteria. Results All the patients were followed up for an average time of 13 months.The stability of shoulder joint was rather good in 12 patients after operation with no recurrence.The average UCLA score for shoulder joint was（23.6±4.5）before operation and（32.7±5.3）at the last follow-up time. Conclusion Arthroscopic repair of Bankart injury of shoulder joint with suture anchors has the following advantages:small in wounding,simple in procedure,and reliable in fixation,and is,thus,beneficial for the recovery of shoulder joint function.
