The establishment of abdominal aorta aneurysm model by differente manufacturing methods

Objective: To explore the manufacturing methods of animal aneurysm model in testing the expandable Nitinol intraluminal stent graft for AAA. Methods: We investigated 4 kinds of method to manufacturing AAA models by using the posterior sheath of rectus with peritoneum, Dacron piece, Dacron manufacturing vasculor and ballon catheter. Results: 10 of the 11 mongrel canine AAA models were successfully established but 1 case died within 24 hours after procedure. 9 of the 10 cases showed satisfactary configurations and 1 case with a disappointing inflation by angiography 1 month later.Conclusion: The aneurysm model manipulated with posterior sheath of rectus is a better method because of the facile material, simple procedure, no leakage and unusual material reaction.
