Personality types of Myers Briggs type indicator in students of air force flying school

Objective To investigate the personality types of Myers Briggs type indicator（MBTI）in students of air force flying school in order to provide the theoretical basis for their psychological assessment,health education and intervention strategy. Methods Second year students in an air force flying school were tested with nodified Chinese version of MBTI. Results The percentage of students with factors of E,S,T,and J in personality was higher than that of those with factors of I,N,F,and P in personality.The number of students with ESTJ personality type was the greatest,followed by the personality types of ENTJ,ESTP,and ESFJ.According to the matriculation examination,the students in the first,second and third classes had a higher score for factors of E,S,T,and J in personality than for factors of I,N,F,and P in personality.The percentage of ESTJ personality type in the students of these 3 classes was the highest.The percentage of INTP,INFJ,and ISFJ personality types in students of the first class was the lowest.The percentage of INFP,ISFJ,and INFJ personality types in students of the second class was the lowest.The percentage of INTP,INFJ,INTJ,and INFP personality types in students of the third class was the lowest.A significant difference in distribution of MBTI personality types was observed among the students in the three classes. Conclusion Most second year students in air force flying school have factors of E,S,T,and J in personality,which is correlated with the special environment of army and the responsibility of military pilots.However,a few students tend to be troubled by various psychological problems.Psychological health education and protection should be undertaken.
