Post-traumatic stress disorder after Wenchuan earthquake

Objective To provide the mental intervention therapy for the survivors of Wenchuan earthquake by investigating their psychic and mental traumaMethods The psychic and mental conditions of survivors in 4 severe earthquake-hit areas of North Wenchuan were investigated in July 2008 with questionnaires and on spot interview using SCL-90 and post-traumatic stress disorder（PTSD）-SS,and then analyzed using the SPSS softwareResults The average PTSD score was 41.93 for the survivors and 48.31% of them might progress into PTSDConclusion The survivors should receive mental intervention therapy in order to reduce their trauma rusluting from PTSD.
