Changes of VEGF and HIF-1 expressions in rats with acute pulmonary embolism and their correction

Abstract
Objective To study the changes of VEGF and HIF-1α expression in a rat model of acute pulmonary embolism(PE) and their correction. Methods Lung tissue samples were collected l,6,12 and 24h after a rat model of acute PE was established.Total protein was extracted from the lung tissue samples.Normal rats were used as controls.Immunohistochemical method was used to examine changes of HIF-lα and VEGF expression in lung tissue samples. Results The VEGF αnd HIF-1α expression levels were gradually increased after acute PE and reached their peak at 6h after acute PE. Conclusion The expression of HIF-l is up-regulated in rat lung tissue after acute PE and increases the expression of VEGF,thus protecting lung tissue from damage.
