TREATMENT OF NEOPLASMS OF INNOMINAT BONE BY PARTIAL RESECTION OF HEMIPELVIS

Hindquarter amputation in the treatment of malignant tumor of the pelvis involving the acetabulum and related structure was usually recommonded before crippling. The operation often seriously imposes upon the patients’ walking ability, Since March 1980, we have used partial resection of the hemipelvis combined with chemotherapy and radiation therapy for the malignant tumour and locally aggresive benein lesion involving the innominate bone. The result is satisfactory. 4 cases were reported in this paper. The operation procedures were introduced in detial, the basic indication for which being the same as for the hindquarter amputation. The function of preserved lower limb are unexpectedly good. The four patients reported are able to walk with no support or with a minimum laterel support.
