Effect of percutaneous coronary microembolism on dog heart function

  • Objective To establish a chronic heart failure(CHF)model of dogs by observing the effect of percutaneous coronary microembolism on dog heart function. Methods Thirty-two dogs were included in this study.Baseline assessment of their heart function was performed in a conscious state.Microsphere was injected into the coronary via a coronary catheter.CHF20%-25%reduction in EF,dP/dtmax and Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure(LVEDP)>14mmHgwas induced by weekly coronary microembolization. Results CHF was successfully induced in 19 dogs. Conclusion CHF can be induced by weekly coronary microembolization via a coronary catheter, which is similar to the human CHF in manifestations and pathogenesis.
