Resection of a Inferior Vena Caval Thrombus from Renal Carcinoma with the Use of Circulatory Arrest

Resection of a tumorthrombus due to large extention of renal cell carcinoma into inferior vena cava combined with nephrectomy may be a difficult operation, The technigue of Circulatory arrest has recently, been used successfuly in a case with renal carcinoma. If both hemorrhage and post operative renal function preservation are well worth considered, we belive that this procedure allows for an oppotunity to resect the tumor in a controlled situation, and makes the operation safer.
