Expression of VEGF and NF-κB/p50 in different types of polymorphous adenoma of salivary gland and its significance

Objective To study the expression of VEGF and NF-κB/p50 in cell-rich and matrix-rich polymorphous adenomas of salivary gland and it significance.Methods Expressions of VEGF and NF-κB/p50 in 105 patients with polymorphous adenomas of salivary gland were detected with SP immunohistochemistry staining.Results The expression level of VEGF and NF-κB/p50 was higher in cell-rich and matrix-rich polymorphous adenomas than in normal salivary gland（P＜0.05）.The expression of VEGF was positively correlated with that of NF-κB/p50.Conclusion The ability of polymorphous adenomas to form blood vessels and proliferation of cells increase with the increased number of cells in the tumor.Cell-rich polymorphous adenomas are easier to become malignant than matrix-rich polymorphous adenomas.
