NON—INVASIVE DIAGNOSIS OF DISEASES OF CARDIAC VALVES USING ULTRASOUND PULSED DOPPLER TECHNIQUE

  • M mode and B mode echocardiographies have many limitations in diagnosing cardiac valve diseases, because they can only provide evidences of the change of the valve forms and intracardiac chamber sizes, but no direct informations of cardiac flow dynamics. Ultrasound pulsed Doppler technique with the range-gate can accurately show the cardiac flow in certain position and thus can be of help to detect uot only whether the regurgitations are present or not,but also the severity of the regurgitations. In this paper pulsed Doppler examination methods and spectral features on various cardiac valves diseases were summarized in detail, and the newest progresses in this work were presented. With continuous improvement of the devices, especially the development of various Duplex imagers based on the micro-computer,it is now possible to make quantitative diagnosises of cardiac valve diseases.
