Comparison of the effects of two chemotherapy pumps combined with PICC in 5-FU continuous pump infusion

Objective To compare the effects of two chemotherapy pumps combined with PICC in 5-FU continuous pump infusion. Methods Sixty patients were randomly divided into sacculus group and computerized group.A PICC tube was inserted into the patients before chemotherapy.The patients were given 5-Fu continuous pump infusion for 48h following the doctor’s advice.Pumping time,time discrepancy,times and cause of computer alarm,and solution time of problems were recorded.Influences of chemotherapy pump on the daily life of patients were compared after chemotherapy. Results Computerized pump with alarm device was more accurate than sacculus pump without alarm devise in pumping chemotherapeutic drugs through the PICC tube（P＜0.01） and could timely find and solve the problems occurred with no influence on the daily life of patients between the two groups（P＞0.05）.However,it had a greater effect on the dressing and sleep of patients than sacculus pump（P＜0.01）. Conclusion Computerized pump combined with PICC is more accurate and safe than sacculus pump in 5-FU continuous pumping infusion and can ensure the continuous 5-FU pump infusion.
