Study on the toxicity of high dose carboplatin chemotherapy

Objective:To investigate the toxicity of the large dose carboplatin.Methods:6 patients suffered from lung cancer were treated with high dose carboplatin with autologous bone marrow transplantation. the total doses of carboplatin ranged from 560 to 1375 mg/m², and VP-16 300 mg in 5 patients and MMC 6 mg VCR 2 mg in 1 patient were added to the regements. Results:The mainly toxic reactions were leukopenia、neutropenia、thrombocytopenia and hair loss （WHO grade Ⅲ~Ⅳ）followed by anemia、bleeding、vomiting and reversible hepatoxicity. Mucous membrane ulceration and moderate fever were observed in each 2 patients; there were proteinuria、superior ventricular tachycardia and constipation in each 1 patient; BUN and Cr were normal The bone marrow of all patients was rescued successfully, and the everage time of recovery was 26.67（range 17 to 32）days from its reinfusion to reconstruction of hemopositic function.Conclusion:Treating lung cancer with high dose carboplantin with ABMT was safe in this dose range we taked.
