Abstract
Rats maintained in good energy and nitrogen balance by total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for 8 days were analyzed for changes in the body weight and plasma protein, cholesterol, phosphorus, and liver function. The result showes that there was no difference in TPN fed rat as compared with control groups. It is suggesed that this type of animal model is useful in the study of nutrition and metabolism during operation.
