A Clinical Study of Effect of External Diaphragmatic Pacemaker on Emphysema Patients

Abstract
Eight obstructive emphysema patients in stable slate were treated with external diaphragmatic pacemaker(EDP) for a 20-day program. The results-showed that: diaphragmatic function including constraction and fatigue-resistant ability, pulmonary function and blood gas analysis were improved after treatment. It means that: EDP is a simple, convenient, painless method and has great potential to use as rehabilitatial tool for COPD patients.
