Abstract
Objective To evaluate the value of tumor type M2 pyruvate kinase(TU M2-PK)in plasma and feces in diagnosis of colon cancer. Methods Peripheral blood and feces were collected from 34 colon cancer patients and 20 healthy persons, respectively. The levels of TU M2-PK in plasms and feces were measured by ELISA. Results The levels of TU M2-PK in plasma and feces from with colon cancer were significantly higher than those from controls(P<0.01).The cutoff value was established at 15U/mL for plasma,4.0U/mL for TU M2-PK in feces. The sensitivity to TU M2-PK in plasma and feces was 65%and 82%,respectively.The levels of TU M2-PK in plasma and feces increased significantly with the progression of colon cancer. The sensitivity to Duke’s A and D increased from 44%to 84%in plasma TU M2-PK,and from 77%to 100%in stool TU M2-PK. Conclusion TU M2-PK level in plasma and feces can be used as a valuable marker in diagnosis of colon cancer.
