Effect of organic Cr on fumaric reductase in liver of artificial diabetic mice

  • Objective: To observe the effect of organic Cr on artificial diabetic mice by STZ and investigate its mechanism and curative dose. Methods: A model of artificial diabetic mice was established by intraperitoneal injection of high,midium and low dose of chromium-enriched yeast and metformin for 4 weeks.Fasting blood sugar was examined every week through caudalis,succinic dehydrogenase activity was detected in liver tissue by the end of experiment. Results: The blood sugar level reduced significantly in chromium enriched yeast and metformin treatment group.The succinic dehydrogenase activity in liver tissue was significant different in chromium enriched yeast and metformin treatment group and artificial diabetes group(P<0.001). Conclusion: Chromium-enriched yeast and metformin can improve glycometabolism in artificial diabetic mice by increasing the activity of enzymes in glucose oxidase decomposition directly or indirectly,which may be of its mechanisms,and therefore,can be used in adjunctive therapy for diabetes.
