Five cases of intrathecal injection accident

Five cases of accident after unsuitable intrathecal injection were reported.Two cases were caused by improperly selected drugs,another two were due to over-dosage of drugs,and one was the result of incorrect injection into the intrathecal space during extradural anesthesia.All these cases presented critical condition immediately following the accident.So,it must be emphasized that the indications for intrathecal injection selection of drugs and their dosage for intrathecal injection should be carefully considered.Actually,intrathecal injection is not a routine method in clinical ground.Hydrocortisonum,Methylene Blue and Brilliant Green sould not be used for intrathecal injection.And entering of anesthetic drugs into intrathecal space should be guarded against.After accidental injection,the patient must be observe closely and intensive care.
