Abstract
Objective:To research the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-lα) and its relationship with the pathological grades in gliomas. To evaluate the relationships of HIF-lα expression with VEGF and microvessel density(MVD) among the three and to investigate their association with pathological grades、angiogenesis of human gliomas. Methods: The expression of HIF-1α、VEGF and as well as the proteins associated with microvessel density in the gliomas were studied with SP immunohistochemical staining. Results: The positive expression of HIF-1α in human gliomas of 54 cases was 61.1%,which was related with the histological grade of tumor. The expression of HIF-1α was positively correlated with VEGF(χ2=4.02,P<0.05) and MVD(t=3.22,P<0.05).Conclusion: HIF-1α correlates positively to histological grade and angiogenesis. The expressions of HIF-1α can be used to assess the prognosis in glioma patients.
