Albuminuria and angiopathy in diabetic patients

The relationship between urinary albumin excretion rate（UAE） and angiopathy was studied in 217patients with diabetes mellitus.The results showed that UAE level was in association with blood pressure,coronary heart disaese,ischemic cerebrovascular disease,diabetic retinopathy,renal function, plasma choles-terol concentration,age and duration of diabetes.It is suggested that elevated UAE（＞20μg/min） not only isan important diagnostic evidence of diabetic nephropathy,but also mighy indicate the presence of extensive macro-and microvascular diseases.
