Preliminary Study on TJ Acrylic Bone Cement and Its Clinical Application

TJ acrylic bone cement was produced by Teintsin Plastic Industry Institute in 1975. The cement consisted of two parts, a liquid containing MMA, DMPT and HQ, and a powder containing MMA/S and BPO. The powder was sterilized by irradiation. Through animal experiments and clinical use, the TJ bone cement has been proved to be an effective and safe fixation material for prosthesis. Since March 1978, about 90 packages of this cement have been used in 49 cases （54 operations）. No changes in blood pressure or other adverse reaction were observed during or after the operation. The result of fixation was satisfactory. The curing time of the TJ bone cement is about 12～15 minutes.
