Abstract
Objective To study the expression of HER-2/neu,PTEN and CD44V6 proteins in gastric cancer and its correlation with the prognosis of gastric cancer. Methods Expressions of HER-2/neu,PTEN and CD44V6 proteins in 30 normal tissue samples and 65 gastric cancer tissue samples were detected with immunohistochemical staining. Results The positive rate of HER-2/neu,PTEN and CD44V6 expression was 21.5%,36.9%and 58.5%,respectively,in gastric cancer tissue samples, and 10.0%,90.0%and 10.0%,respectively,in normal tissue samples(P<0.05).The expression of HER-2/neu,PTEN and CD44V6 in gastric cancer was closely related with tumor cell differentiation, invasion depth and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05) but not with age,sex and pathological stages of patients(P>0.05).The 5-year survival rate for patients with positive or negative expression of CD44V6 and HER-2/neu was 7.14%and 22.2%,respectively(P<0.05).Cox regression analysis showed that the expression of HER-2/neu and CD44V6 proteins was a risk factor for gastric cancer. Conclusion Expression of HER-2/neu,PTEN and CD44V6 proteins in gastric cancer can be used as an indicator for predicting the prognosis of gastric cancer.
