Selection of treatment on dentigerous cysts

Objective: In order to preserve the cyst adjacent normal tissue, and to obtain satisfied results for dentigerous cysts. Methods: 46 cases of dentigerous cysts were selected. We analyzed the position of these cysts, their adjacent normal structures and normal erupted teeth.Results: In these cases there are type Ⅰ11 cases, type sub-Ⅰ5 cases, typeⅡ1 case, type Ⅲ 27 cases and type Ⅳ 2 cases. 41 cases were treated in enucleation, 9 of these cases were treated in enucleation and radical maxillary sinusotomy.5 cases were treated in decompression. Conclusion: By the location and the affection to adjacent normal structures, we classify dentigerous cyst four types. So we can treat them by different methods.
