Pulmonary Function in the Patients Submitted to Lung Exeresis

  • The effects of lung surgery on respiratory function were investigated in 80 patients undering postpneumonectomy and lobectomy for carcinoma and tuberculous of the lung. The lung function showed a reduction to about half the predicted normal values for postpneumonectomy. VG was reduced to 48.2% predicted for right pneumonectomy; FVC was reduced to 49.9% predicted for right pneumonectomy; FEV1 was 41.5% predicted; TLC was 55.4% predicted; RV was reduced to 77.6%; FEF 50 was 17.0%; FEF 25 was 14.3%. It is important that protect lung function of postpneumonectomy.
