New perinatal medical model: Doula accompanied delivery

  • Objective: Popularize Doula delivery, which can reduce cesarean section rate, promote natural delivery, improve the relationship between doctor and patient. Methods: Compare the cesarean section rate, neonatal asphyxia rate, postpartum hemorrhage rate and parturition process of doula(150 cases),and non-doula accompanied(150 cases) delivery. Results: The cesarean section rate, dystocia rate of delivery, postpartum hemorrhage rate of doula delivery are all significantly lower than that of non-doula group. The neonatal asphyxia rate between these two groups has no significance. Conclusion: Doula accompanied delivery as a new delivery service model may reduce the rate of cesarean section and postpartum hemorrhage, decrease the process of parturition, and no correlation with neonatal asphyxia, which is worth to application in clinical practice.
