Bogota bag for temporary abdominal closure in patients with severe abdominal infection

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of "Bogota bag" in open abdomen management of patients with severe abdominal infection. Methods: "Bogota bag" was used in 6 patients with severe abdominal infection after traditional primary abdominal closure failed. Results: All patients were cured after using "Bogota bag" for temporary abdominal closure.No patient suffered subsequent sepsis and emergency operation.There was no severe adverse event such as enterocutaneous fistulas during the treatment. Conclusion: The technique of "Bogota bag" can be a safe and effective method in treating severe abdominal sepsis.
