Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the inhibition of ampicillin and moxifloxacin on initial and mature biofilms formed by Haemophilus influenzae in vitro. Methods: The effects of initial and mature biofilms were measured by crystal violet assay under various concentrations of ampicillin and moxifloxacin. Results: At concentrations of 1/8 and 1/64 MICs,bacterial adhesion and initial biofilm synthesis were inhibited by ampicillin and moxifloxacin.Disruption of mature biofilms could be achieved by moxifloxacin at concentration of 1/8、 1、 8MIC. Conclusion: Haemophilus influenzae biofilms might be inhibited at lower concentrations of ampicillin and moxifloxacin in vitro.Moxifloxacin can break down mature biofilm.
