Abstract
Objective: To improve the diagnostic and treating outcome of posterior cranial fossa epidural hematoma that occured in children. Methods: We repoted the methods of diagnosis and treatment of children's posterior cranial fossa hematome. Results: The clinical manifestations of this kind of injury are headache, vomiting, coma and anemia. The plain X-ray film of skull showed that the fractures were usually significant and in some cases can straddle the transverse sinus, sagital sinus or foramen magnum. CT scanning can exhibit the location and diameter of the hematoma, and can displays the accompanying injury. Conclusion: We must pay attention to the injury history of the occipital area and the early symptoms of the injured children. We should perform CT scan promptly for the patients. It is important to do operation as soon as possible to reduce the mortality and morbidity in this kind of injury.
