Experimental study of the correlation between ICP and shift of cerebral midline in early stage of postdecompressive brain bulk enlargement

  • Objective:To explor the correlatin between ICP and shift of cerebral midline in early stage of postdecompressive brain bulk enlargement.Methods:Used physical monitor,ICP was measured continuely in 6 cats within 6h after decompression.T1WI was performed in the same 6 cats at the three time points (2h,4h or 6h after decompression) to examine the shift of cerebral midline.Results: ICP raised shortly and obviously after decompression.The swollen hemisphere shifted increasingly to the contralater.Conclusion: There was medium positive correlation (coefficient=0.61) between ICP and the midline shift in early stage (<6h) of post decompressive brain bulk enlargement.Both of ICP and the midline shift could show definitely the swollen degree of the hemisphere in decompressive side.
