An Analysis of Laboratory Results in Patients with Primary Hypothyroidism Receiving Thyroid Tablet Treatment

The Results of serum T₃,T₄ and TSH estimation in 123 patients with primary hy-pothyroidism receiving thyroid tablet treatment were analysed. The data showed that TSH andT₃ responses were more sensitive than T₄ response to thyroid tablet replacement treatment.T₄ levels were still below the normal range in part of these patients though overdoses of thyroidtablet were.It is reasonable to regard TSH and T₃ as main indexes in the evaluation of theeffect of thyroid tablet treatment.TSH values obtained by IRMA, due to its high sensitivity,are superior to those by RIA in evaluating the effect of replacement treatment,especially forthe judgment of overtreatment
