Infusion of adrenaline-containing solution reduces bleeding in knee joint after total replacement operation

Objective To evaluate the effect of adrenaline-containing solution on reducing bleeding in knee joint after total replacement operation. Methods Thirty-nine patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group.Total replacement of knee joint was performed in patients of experimental group,subcutaneous tissue was sutured and a drainage tube was placed,and 50mL of 0.5%adrenaline solution was injected into the knee joint cavity by the end of operation.Patients in control group were routinely treated with no injection of adrenaline solution.The drainage volume was recorded after the wound was closed. Results The mean drainage volume was 148.9mL and 260mL,respectively,in experimental and control groups 12h after operation（P＜0.05）.The mean total drainage volume was 271mL and 530mL,respectively,in experimental and control groups（P＜0.01）. Conclusion Adrenaline solution can effectively reduce the drainage volume after total replacement of knee joint.
