Changes of blood-brain barrier in guinea pigs with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis

  • Objective:To explore the changes of blood-brain barrier(BBB) in the pathogenesis of CNS demyelinating diseases. Methods:The blood-brain barrier in guinea pigs with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE) was examined by using anti-guinea pig IgG immunohistochemical method and HRP injection into the common carotid artery. Results:The disruption and increased permiability of BBB occurred in EAE three days before the appearance of clinical symptoms. Conclusion:The result indicate that disruption of BBB occurred in CNS may play an important role in the pathogenesis of EAE.
