Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of thymosin alpha-1(Tα1) on septemia in patients with chronic liver failure. Methods Sixty-four patients with chronic liver failure accompanying septicemia were randomly divided into treatment group(n=32) and control group(n=32).Patients in control group received routine comprehensive treatment and patients in treatment group received routine comprehensive treatment plus subcutaneous injection with Tα1(1.6mg every other day). Results After two weeks of treatment, the curative effect was much better in treatment group than in control group(χ2=5.54,P<0.01),and the number of white blood cells(WBC) and neutrophils was significantly less after treatment than before treatment in both groups, especially in treatment group(P<0.05).The serum CD4+ and CD8+ levels were significantly higher in treatment group than in control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Tα1 therapy has a better effect on septicemia in patients with chronic liver failure is better than simple comprehensive therapy.
