Preventive effect of Jinliyuan capsules on fatty liver in rat

Objective: To study the preventive effect of Jinliyuan capsules （JLY） on fatty liver induced by high lipid diet in rats. Methods: Sixty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups. They were fed with normal diet, high lipid diet, high lipid diet supplemented with different concentration of JLY, high lipid diet supplemented with Lipingzhi capsules, respectively. After 12 weeks, liver tissue’s Ch, Tg, MDA, SOD, GPX were measured, and liver tissue’s histological changes were observed. Results: Compared with high lipid diet group, in JLY groups, liver Ch decreased significantly（P＜0.05）, SOD increased significantly（P＜0.05）, GPX increased, but there was no significantly difference （P＞0.05）; liver Tg in JLYH group, MDA in JLY H and M groups decreased significantly（P＜0.05）; liver Tg in JLY M and L groups, MDA in JLY low dose group decreased, but there was no significantly difference（P＞0.05）. Conclusion: JLY could reduce liver lipid deposition and lipid peroxidation, restore liver antioxidant activity in rats with hyperlipidemia, which could prevent hepatocyte from fatty degeneration.
