Classification and treatment of constricted ear

Objective: Using simple and specific methods to treat different kinds of constricted ear. Methods: after summaring the treatment experience of 106 cases of constricted ear, we reformed the classification of Tanzer’s and used specific treatment for different kinds of constricted ear. That is:Type A: local transposition plus steel wire elevation. Type B: Free composite flap transplantation from the other ear. Type C: Total ear reconstruction with autogenous rib cartilage. Results: After reformed classifiction and specific treatment, the helix is fully extened and the scapha is prominent..Bilateral ear are almost symmetrical.the results are satisfactory. Conclution:Reformed the classification of Tanzer’s for constricted ear and adopted specific treatment for them. The results of surgery is reliable.
