Liver metastasis of osteoclast-like giant cell pleomorphic cancer of pancreas after operation:A case report and review of the literature

  • Objective To study the diagnostic and treatment methods of osteoclast-like giant cell pleomorphic cancer of pancreas(PCOG).Methods Clinical manifestations,pathological change and therapeutic effect of a patient with osteoclast-like giant cell PCOG were retrospectively analyzed with related literature reviewed and experiences in its diagnosis and treatment summarized.Results The patient was a 58-year-old male.His clinical manifestations were upper abdominal pain,anorexia,loss of weight and other non-specific symptoms.Abdominal CT demonstrated a right liver lobe occupying lesion,6cm in diameter.The resected specimen showed a nodular feature and its profile was taupe with hemorrhage and congestion.Immunophenotype expressed the CD68,CK,Vim and CK8&18.The prognosis of the patient was good.Conclusion Osteoclast-like giant cell PCOG is a specific subtype of pleomorphic cancer of pancreas.Its patients can survive a long time after surgical resection.
