Clinical Study of 22 Senile cases of gastric carcinoma

This paper reported 22 senile patients with gastric carcinoma surviing more than 5 years.Forty-five per cent of them suffered from early carcinoma and 55% from advanced carcinoma.Aenocarcinoma accounted for 95% and 32% of these patients showed metastasis of lymph nodes.All patients have been operated on and postoperative chemotherapy was given to 64%.Patients with advanced carcinoma made up 86% of these cases receiving chemotherapy.Therefore,operation and chemothecapy are of prime importance in the treatment of advanced gastric careinoma.Adnocacinoma appears to be more sensitive to chemotherapy.Carcinoma at the body of the stomach sensitivemay be considered favourable in prognosis.Light chemotherapy of several courses appears to be save and effective in the elderly.
