CAPD for the elderly with chronic renal failure—1 case report in addition

In this paper, we introduce concisely the methods of GAPD used in our country, describing the tracts of dialysis, the constituents of dialystic fluid, the advantages and the disadvantages of CAPD, and the treatment of the possible complications. In addition, we present in the result of treatment by GAPD an aged patient suffering from renal insufficiency complicated by coronary artery disease, repeated myocardial infarctions, heart dysfunction and diabetes. After CAPD, in a period of one month his serum BUN and creatine dropped from 110mg％ to 8mg％ and from 40mg％ respectively. his symptoms improved markedly. After discharged from the hospital, he continued to he treated by peritoneal dialysis. Though he finally died of lung infection, GAPD has made his condition stable for about 10 months. Therefore, GAPD seem to be particularly suitable for patients with chronic renal failure in old age and those who are usually difficult to be handled.
