Effect of epithelial cells co-culture with eosinophils on IL-8 release

Obsjective: To investigate the effect of human epithelial cells co-culture with human eosinophils on interleukin（IL）-8 gene expression and protein release. Methods: BEAS-2B cells were co-cultured with eosinophils,IL-8 gene expression in BEAS-2B cells was evaluated by RT-PCR and IL-8 release in culture supernatant was determined by flow cytometry with CBA kit. Results: IL-8 gene expression in BEAS-2B cells was up-regulated by co-culture with eosinophils and IL-8 release was increased in co-culture supernatant. Conclusion: Epithelial cells could be activated by co-culture with eosinophils to release IL-8.
